100 Years of Port Ellen tasting pack (3x 25ml)

The whiskies in this pack have a combined age of 100 years - a truly special offering from the cellars of Hunter Laing.

Port Ellen, aged 31 years ~ Old & Rare

A robust peaty leathery nose initially masking a spicy citrus zest. A strong island feel of peat seaweed is found at the front of the tongue, but a light citrus fruit and honey at the back. A long finish bring through the light subtle zestiness. An excellent example of this fine Islay whisky.

25ml, 52.4% ABV.

Port Ellen, aged 33 years ~ Old & Rare

This golden whisky has a nose with notes of smoke, sweet peat and lemon. The palate is sweet and spicy with peat, oranges, gentle smoke and liquorice. The finish is medium length with a lingering of smoke.

25ml, 56.8% ABV.

Port Ellen, aged 36 years ~ Eidolon

Deep amber in colour, the nose opens with immediate sherry cask influence - rich red fruit, almond, pecan, toffee and sweet pipe tobacco.

On the palate it is intense and expressive, with cocoa powder, coffee, citrus, polished wood, more tobacco and an all-encompassing Islay peat smoke.

With time in the glass and a few drops of water added more herbal notes and a sea-breeze/oyster freshness are apparent.

The finish is never-ending, with old fishing nets, tar, honey, black tea and chocolate almonds lingering on. Truly a wonderful example of the legendary Port Ellen Distillery's output.
