Whisky
Our first whisky passed its three-year maturation date in November 2021. It will still be a few years though before this is sold as our first release - this whisky will tell us when it's ready.
Rest assured that we will announce this in good time for you to be able to buy it!
We sell various whiskies provided by our parent company Hunter Laing, who are an independent bottler of Scotch whisky. They have a range of fine stock from across Scotland.
Ardnahoe private cask sales have ceased at the end of 2021.
Sorry if you missed out - we look forward to the ongoing whisky journey with all our existing cask owners.
Payments & tax
For international alcohol purchases, we have found that it's not uncommon to have issues with bank authorisation of certain card payments. In this case, it's worth trying a different card; or if you prefer, we can arrange an order with you payable by bank transfer. Please contact us for further details.
Orders shipped to the UK will incur VAT.
International orders will not incur UK sales tax. Your local sales tax and any local duties etc may be charged to you by our courier before they deliver your order to you.
Shipping destinations & charges
We ship to the UK, most EU countries, certain states of the USA (unfortunately not all states), and many other global destinations.
Unfortunately we do not ship to France, Sweden, Canada or China.
You can find out if we ship to your specific destination by entering your address at the checkout.
UK shipping is a flat-rate £9.60 for any orders up to £100, irrespective of number of bottles etc.. Higher-value orders have free shipping.
Shipping to the USA is a flat-rate £60 for any orders up to £600, with higher-value orders having free shipping.
Shipping to other international destinations has flat rates which vary based on the destination, from £25 (free for orders over £200) to £60 (free for orders over £600)
UK orders and international orders (except USA) are automatically insured in full.
USA orders are not insured, because this facility is not offered by our USA shipping agent.
Delivery and tracking - UK orders
We pack orders as soon as possible when we receive them, in any case within about one working day. At this point, you will get a notification from ParcelForce stating that your package has been entered into the system with a tracking number.
When your package is physically picked up from us, we mark your order as "fulfilled" and you will get an email as-such from the online shop.
When your package reaches the mainland network, at least a few days after it leaves us, the ParcelForce tracking will be updated with accurate information about your delivery and options. Note that until your package reaches a depot on the mainland, the tracking information is not updated at all.
UK packages are normally delivered in about 7 days.
After your package has been picked up from us, and before it reaches the mainland network, the tracking status usually defaults to "Advised not received". This does not mean that your package is in trouble, it just means that the tracking info is not yet available.
ParcelForce will attempt delivery to you as per the information they give you after dispatch (by text and/or email). If you're not in at the scheduled time then they will try again, or you can arrange with them to pick your package up from a local depot. If they can't make delivery or pickup within 7 days of their first attempt, then they will return the package to us.
Delivery and tracking - international (non-USA)
As with UK orders, we pack orders as soon as possible when we receive them, in any case within about one working day. At this point, you will get a notification from DHL stating that your package has entered the system.
We then pass your package to our relay courier to take to the mainland DHL depot. When this local courier has your package, we mark the order as "fulfilled" and you will get a notification as-such from the online shop.
When your package reaches the mainland DHL network, the tracking information will be updated in detail, and also you may receive a request from DHL to pay your local sales tax and/or other local duties.
The DHL tracking information will then follow your package in detail until it reaches you, including status of customs & import procedures into your own country.
Most international deliveries take about 10-14 days. This can vary somewhat though based on local cross-border customs procedures.
If DHL attempt a delivery to you when you are not at home, then they will offer you other options such as redelivery on a different date or pickup from a local depot.
We endeavour to ship only to countries where we know the alcohol import requirements. Consequently, if we ship to your country at all then we don't expect any problems.
However, there are occasionally unavoidable delays or complications - we deal with these case-by-case with our shipping agent and also their local branches within your country.
Delivery and tracking - USA orders
We first ship your package to our relay courier in the UK, who then separately sends it to the USA.
The first stage is tracked by us; the second stage is executed in the USA by FedEx.
When your package has entered the FedEx network then we are given its tracking info by our relay courier, and we can pass this info to you upon request.
Most deliveries to the USA take about 10-14 days.
If FedEx attempt delivery when you're not at home, then you can arrange with them an alternative delivery date or to pick up your package from a local depot.
